Endemic Species


Lord Howe Island offers one of the few remaining fisheries relatively untainted by commercial interests. Although there are areas of marine park, a large proportion of the island and surrounding waters are available for recreational anglers.

The following species are targeted by GREENBACK:

  • Yellow Spot Wrasse
  • LHI Kingfish
  • Blue Maori Cod
  • Wahoo
  • Yellowfin Tuna
  • Yellowtail Kingfish
  • Trevally (Silver)
  • Marlin (Black, Blue, Striped)
  • Sail Fish
  • Spearfish
  • Dolphin Fish

Other Species

Bar Cod, Scarlet Job Fish, Rosy Job Fish, Lavender Job Fish, Blue Eye Trevalla, Jackass Morwong, Maori Cod, Blue Maori Cod, Spangled Emperor, Red Throat Emperor, Red Fish, Amberjack, Rainbow Runner, Skipjack Tuna.

Calendar

The Kings are here all year round & most other species between November & May. The currents are constantly changing but Lord Howe Island & Ball's Pyramid is sitting on a plateau so we can always fish the edge most suited to the current flow. Prime game fishing time from November to May. Marlin, Sailfish - December through to May.
