GREENBACK is a beamy Gavin Mair designed 9.3m Air Rider. A new dimension in boating GREENBACK has exceptional sea handling capabilities that ensure optimum passenger comfort. She is ideally suited for sport and game fishing, sight seeing excursions around Lord Howe Island and Ball's Pyramid. GREENBACK is powered by a single 250hp Yanmar diesel engine that is capable of propelling the vessel at the comfortable cruising speed of 18 knots. GREENBACK is fitted with the latest navigation and safety equipment ensuring the well being of those onboard. |

We wish to emphasise the exceptional visibility inside and out of Greenback, and the extremely dry and comfortable ride you will enjoy. This vessel has a walk round cabin, quality fishing tackle, spacious fishing room and the fact that we do not take a large number of passengers.
By not crowding passengers, our aim is to provide a high quality experience on board Greenback whether it be a fishing adventure or scenic cruise.
It is an advantage to book prior to arriving on the Island and we now have Greenback polo shirts, tee shirts & caps available.
Greenback and her experienced crew offer guests a new dimension in unique, aquatic adventures that include experiencing the rugged beauty of Ball's Pyramid, snorkeling the crystal clear waters of the world's southern most coral reef or sport and game fishing in the vicinity of the Islands exhilarating deep ocean drop offs.

GREENBACK is owned and operated by Dave and Glenys Gardiner. Capt. Dave Gardiner (Master Class V). Dave has a total of 30 years skippering experience in Lord Howe and other NSW and Queensland waters. He is also a qualified dive master. Dave has a long association with fishing and boating and during this time developed a love for his work. Our experienced staff are committed to ensuring that your experience onboard GREENBACK is both memorable and enjoyable. It is for this reason, GREENBACK operates during optimum sea conditions for any activities undertaken. |

Fishing Equipment
Whilst onboard GREENBACK you will have the use of an impressive array of quality reels mounted on custom rods that meet the daily challenges put forward by the Lord Howe Island fishing scene. All the fishing tackle aboard GREENBACK is maintained to the highest possible standards to ensure the best chance possible of landing that fish of a lifetime.
GREENBACK is a great fishing platform and we use top class Shimano tackle. We jig with a Jig Wrex & Shimano Torsa 30 reels, troll with Tiagra reels/custom rods & live bait with Tynos lever drag reels/beastmaster rods. They are all fitted with 80lb braid. We also have a light tackle option.
GREENBACK uses a variety of fishing methods that include:
- Trolling
- Deep water jigging
- Live baiting
- Cubing
- Bait fishing
The water depths vary from the surface to 500m.
Policies
Fishing Equipment |
Quality fishing equipment is provided on all fishing trips. Fishers are responsible for replacement of fishing equipment damaged, lost or broken due to negligence.

Weather/Mechanical Failure |
GREENBACK staff will make every effort to meet booking obligations; however Cancellation due to unsuitable weather or mechanical failure will be at the discretion of the Master. If alternate date is not available, all monies will be refunded.

Fish Caught |
Due to the high need for fresh fish at Lord Howe, Fish Lord Howe Pty Ltd reserves the right to sell all catch beyond your immediate requirements.
